Clarendon Hall junior varsity volleyball defeated Calhoun Academy on Monday night to bring the JV Lady Saints’ record to 4-0 on the season. The final score was 2-0 with game scores of 25-14 and 25-7. Whitney Avins led the JV Lady Saints with 14 service points and six aces. Amberly Way and Aubrey Edwards totaled 10 points each, with Way having two aces.

The Clarendon Hall varsity Lady Saints defeated Calhoun Academy 3-1 on Monday with game scores of 25-23 (W), 25-19 (L), 25-20 (W) and 25-23 (W).
Madison Kidd led the Lady Saints with 20 service points and five aces. Mallory McIntosh added 18 service points with six aces, and Brynne Baxley had 15 points. The Lady Saints are now 2-2 on the season.

Martha Ann Morgan Wright, 76, wife of Jimmie Leith Wright, died Sunday, Aug. 27, 2017, at National Health Care of Sumter.
Born Dec. 21, 1940, in Amarillo, Texas, she was a daughter of the late Audie Lee Morgan and Clementine Stringer Morgan. She taught elementary school and eventually became vice principal of a French Immersion Magnet School. She was a master gardener, a member of Wyboo Women’s Club and she was a member of St. Matthias Episcopal Church.

The Clarendon Hall varsity Saints ran their record to 2-0 on the season Friday night with a 46-28 victory away from home at Beaufort Academy.
Beaufort scored on its first possession to go up 8-0. The Saints answered on their first possession, with Tyrese Mitchum rushing for a six-yard touchdown. Bobby Ashba made the two-point conversion.
Beaufort answered right back with a 47-yard completion for a touchdown to go up 14-8. After a Beaufort recovery on an onside kick, Beaufort scored to go up 20-8.

U.S. Sen. Tim Scott is currently accepting applications for service academy nominations through 5 p.m. Oct. 13. High school student interested in attending one of four service academies may submit applications and other necessary documents.
Those service academies include the U.S. Military Academy, the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Air Force Academy and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.

The Sumter Police are reaching outside of their jurisdiction, seeking the public’s help in finding a 52-year-old man who hasn’t been seen since early Friday.
Family members and coworkers said it is highly unusual for Tommy Brialey not to report to work or call family members. He was last seen at 2 a.m. Friday leaving Brewers Bar and Grill, 160 E. Wesmark Blvd. in Sumter.
He was wearing jeans and a Continental Tire polo shirt.
He drives a silver 2004 four-door 325i BMW with South Carolina license tag LYB406.

Rainfall associated with a developing tropical system along the
southeastern coast may bring the potential for periods of heavy

The Manning Police Department is currently seeking the public’s help in locating two women who allegedly used a North Carolina woman’s debit card at several local locations, including the Manning Walmart, between noon July 8 and 4 p.m. July 19.
According to reports, a 63-year-old woman from Wallace, North Carolina, notified police that she had traveled to Minnesota for a work trip and had stayed on the interstate and had not come near the city of Manning. She said four separate transactions were taken off her card after she received her Social Security check.
