Mayes Pringle Warr

Mayes Pringle Warr, 80, widow of Claude W. Warr Jr., died on Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2017, at Covenant Place in Sumter.

Born Aug. 6, 1936, at Liberty Hill Plantation in Gable, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Hartwell Pringle and Edith Moore Pringle. After graduating from Manning High School, she received a nursing degree from Tuomey School of Nursing. She served as director of nursing at Hopewell Nursing Home from 1964-84. She then served as Hopewell's administrator, until her retirement in 1999. Mrs. Warr was a longtime member of Lemira Presbyterian Church and was presently a member of Mayesville Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include a son, Wade Hartwell Warr and his wife, Melinda, of Alcolu; and two beloved grandchildren, Lewis Hartwell Warr and his fianc , Mary Rachel Scott, and Caroline Idella Mayes Warr.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Lily Faith Pringle.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 4, 2017, at the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Brian Peake officiating. Burial will follow at Concord Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the graveside following the committal service.
