A woman driving on Interstate 95 in Summerton about 2:57 p.m. June 26 called the Clarendon County Sheriff’s Office to report being robbed at gunpoint on the side of the road. The woman said that she and her two children had stopped at a rest stop in Orangeburg County so she could feed her 4-month-old child. She said she was leaving the rest stop and saw that her tire light had come on. She said she pulled over after crossing the Lake Marion Bridge and was checking her tire when a red Chevrolet pickup truck pulled up behind her and came to a stop. The woman said that a white male between 20 and 30 years old got out of the truck and asked her if she needed any help. “The victim said that she saw the subject had tattoos all the way down his right arm and his hand,” a report from the Sheriff’s Office reads. “She stated that the subject pulled out a black handgun and told her to give him all her money. The victim stated that she gave him her pocketbook that had $12 cash, her cell phone and VISA card. She said she also took off her wedding ring and handed it to the subject.”
