Arthur Bavosi

Arthur Bavosi, 87, husband of Rosemarie Riggs Bavosi, died Saturday, July 15, 2017, at Palmetto Health Tuomey in Sumter.

Born Sept. 28, 1929, he was a son of the late Giuseppe Bavosi and Frances Lofrano Bavosi and one of nine siblings. Art was born in South Plainfield, New Jersey, and attended high school there. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1946, and served in the Pacific, and then reenlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served on the carriers Midway and Coral Sea. He then worked as building code inspector in Piscataway Township, New Jersey, where he and the family resided. They retired to Manning in 1998.

Art was loved by all for his generous heart and warm sense of humor. He loved his family and his two communities very much. He will be missed by many who remember his big smile and USS Midway cap.

Survivors besides his wife of 67 years include two daughters, Victoria D. Innes (William) of Wilmington, Delaware, and Deborah Grant (Michael) of Henderson, Nevada; a grandson, Alexander Sinkovich (Arianna) of Neptune City, New Jersey; and a step-grandson, Andrew Innes (Renae) of Blakely, Pennsylvania.

Art will be inurned at Arlington National Cemetery.

Remembrance services are closed to the family.

The family request that memorials be made to the Clarendon County Veterans Association.
