Gail Lamberth Mathis, 58, wife of James Victor “Jimmy” Mathis, died Sunday, July 2, 2017, at her home.

Born May 5, 1959, in Montezuma, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Roy Hester Lamberth and the late Mary Merritt Lamberth. She was a branch manager for the Clarendon Sun newspaper and a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.

Survivors besides her husband of Manning include two sons, Jamie Mathis (Amanda) of Alcolu and Chris Mathis (Hope) of Manning; three grandchildren, Lila Kate Mathis, Gavin Mathis and Huxley Mathis (due in two weeks).

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Roger Dale Lamberth.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 5, 2017, in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home, with the Rev. Drew Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Clarendon Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be an hour prior to the service, from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, at Stephens Funeral Home, and other times at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Jamie and Amanda Mathis, 5163 U.S. 301 in Alcolu.
