Golf Cart stolen from Clubhouse Road

A 2007 Club Cart valued at $4,000 was reportedly stolen from a shed at a home in the 1300 block of Clubhouse Road between 8 a.m. May 29 and 1 p.m. June 17, according to reports from the Clarendon County Sheriff’s Office.
The victim described the golf cart as white with red paint and having “Atlanta Braves” on the side. He said the golf cart had a lift kit and chrome wheels.


St. Mark to present comedy play in Sumter

CD player, tires stolen from broken down vehicle on US 15 South

A Kenwood CD player valued at $600 and four tires valued at $450 were reportedly stolen from a vehicle that broke down in the area of U.S. 15 south of Summerton between 7 and 8 a.m. June 5.
According to reports from the Clarendon County Sheriff’s Office, the victim’s black Honda Accord broke down in the area, and suspects also spray-painted profanity all over the vehicle and broke all the windows.

A 7-by-14-foot utility trailer valued at $1,500 was reportedly stolen from a home in the 1100 block of Enlow Court in Summerton between 11;15 and 11:30 a.m. June 17, according to reports from the Clarendon County Sheriff’s Office.


Manning residents receive degrees from USC Upstate

Manning residents Tyleak Clark and Natalie Dyson received bachelor’s degrees May 2 from the University of South Carolina Upstate during commencement ceremonies held at the Quad behind the John C. Stockwell Administration Building. A release from the school did not specify what degrees the graduates received.


Mirror stolen from Culp Street home

A mirror valued at $10 was reportedly stolen sometime between 7 p.m. June 1 and 5 p.m. June 2 after someone broke into a single-wide mobile home in the 1000 block of Culp Street in Manning, according to reports from the Clarendon County Sheriff’s Office.

Ruger stolen from vehicle parked on Deberry Road

A black 9-millimeter Ruger P-95 handgun valued at $700 was reportedly stolen from a vehicle parked in the 1100 block of Deberry Road in Manning between 3:30 and 10:50 p.m. June 18. The victim said that his wife’s purse, which included her wallet and credit cards, were also stolen from the vehicle.


Hazardous Weather Outlook calls for severe morning storms

The National Weather Service out of Columbia has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook Saturday morning, calling for a few fast-moving storms that may become severe through 5 a.m., with a primary risk of damaging wind gusts and even an isolated tornado.

NEW ZION – O’Donnell McKenzie, 102, widower of Virginia Kennedy McKenzie, died Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at his home, 8387 Salem Road in New Zion.
Born March 5, 1915, in Clarendon County, he was a son of the late Robert Brown and Candass Burgess McKenzie.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, June 26, 2017, at Howard Chapel AME Church, 6338 Old Manning Road in New Zion, with the Rev. Robert Galloway, pastor, officiating. Elder Willie James Witherspoon will provide the eulogy.
The family will receive friends at the home.
Services have been entrusted to Samuels Funeral Home LLC


Lillie Mae Evans McDowell

TURBEVILLE – Lillie Mae Evans McDowell, 72, wife of George McDowell, died Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at Carolinas Hospital System in Florence.
Born Dec. 12, 1944, in Kingstree, she was a daughter of the late William Evans and Sally Pearson Evans.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, June 26, 2017, at St. John AME Church in the Workman Crossroad commumity of Kingstree, with the Rev. Fredrick Johnson, pastor, providing eulogy; the Rev. Leroy Evans presiding; and Minister Willie Evans and Minister Timothy Brand assisting.
Burial will follow in the churchyard cemetery.

Compaq computer stolen from Chase Drive home

A Compaq computer was reported stolen from a home in the 1000 block of Chase Drive in Alcolu between 5:25 p.m. April 30 and 5:42 p.m. May 30, according to reports from the Clarendon County Sheriff’s office.
Deputies reported that the homeowner came home to find that her door was damaged as if someone had been inside. She said the computer had been sitting on a chair, and that it was missing.
