TURBEVILLE – Mary Ellen Coker Brigman, 88, passed away Tuesday, June 6, 2017, at her home after an illness.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday at Olanta Presbyterian Church, with burial in the Coker Family Cemetery in Turbeville, directed by Floyd Funeral Home of Olanta.
The family will greet friends prior to the funeral service at the church from 1 to 3 p.m.
Born in Turbeville, she was a daughter of the late William Luther Coker Sr. and Maggie Lavinia Morris Coker.

Cell phone stolen from Alex Harvin Highway motel room

A cell phone valued at $300 was reportedly stolen from a motel on Alex Harvin Highway in Manning sometime during the evening hours on June 2, according to reports from the Clarendon County Sheriff’s Office.
The phone’s owner told deputies that he left his room to get ice and that he left the door unlocked when he went. He said he didn’t notice his phone was missing until about 8:20 a.m. June 3. He further told deputies that the phone was worth $300, although he couldn’t remember what make or model the phone was.

Baby Desert Eagle handgun stolen from vehicle at Princess Pond home

A .40-caliber Baby Desert Eagle semi-automatic handgun valued at $450 was reportedly stolen from a vehicle parked in the 2300 block of Princess Pond Road between 11:30 p.m. May 31 and 8 a.m. June 1, according to reports from the Clarendon County Sheriff’s Office.
The victim told deputies that a friend had told him he needed two guns because “he knows a woman and man wanting to buy them,” reports state. Kia valued at $3,500 reported stolen from St. James Road home

A 2003 Kia Rio valued at $3,500, along with a license tag valued at $24, were reportedly stolen of a home in the 3200 block of St. James Road near Lake City about 9 a.m. June 1.
According to reports from the Clarendon County Sheriff’s Office, the victim who lived at the home told deputies that two male subjects came into his yard and told him he owed another man money. The man told the subjects that he didn’t owe anyone money, and the subjects told him they were going to take the Kia until he paid the money.

Born on March 26, 1938, she was a daughter of the late Abie Bowman and Mae McKnight.

Taurus handgun reportedly stolen from vehicle on Princess Pond Road

A 9-millimeter Taurus PT111 Millennium G2 semi-automatic handgun valued at $325 was reportedly stolen from a vehicle parked in the 2300 block of Princess Pond Road between 11 p.m. May 31 and 8:30 a.m. June 1, according to reports from the Clarendon County Sheriff’s Office.
The victim’s father told deputies that about 12 a.m. June 1, he was three white males on a white golf cart with no lights or taillights on it in the neighborhood, and that he’d heard his dog barking about 2 a.m. as well.

Utility trailer valued at $800 reported stolen from Landing Road home

An 8-by-8-foot standard utility trailer valued at about $800 was reportedly stolen from a home in the 1200 block of Landing Road in Manning between 5:30 p.m. May 29 and 7 a.m. May 30, according to reports from the Clarendon County Sheriff’s Office.
