Manning First Baptist to hold VBS

Manning First Baptist Church will hold Galactic Surveyors for ages 3 to 5 and first- through sixth-grade students from 5:30 to 8 p.m. June 12-16. A light supper will be served nightly.

Library to host production of ‘Three Little Pigs’

The Harvin Clarendon County Library and Porkchop Productions will hold “The Three Little Pigs” at 2 p.m. June 15 at the library, 215 N. Brooks St. in Manning. Join them for the fabulously fractured adaptation of this timeless tale. When Stanley, the cool pig on the block, is encouraged by his mother to invite Ralphie, the new sheep on the block, over for a camp-out, Stanley is less than thrilled. Wreck blocking US 521, SC 261

A wreck with no injuries has the intersection of S.C. 261 and U.S. 521 in Manning currently blocked to roadway traffic, according to the S.C. Highway Patrol.

Ella Mae Dozier King

Ella Mae Dozier King, wife of Sumpter D. King, died Monday, June 5, 2017.
She was a daughter of the late Lawson Dozier and Ella Mae Wallace Dozier.
Funeral services for Mrs. King will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 11, 2017, at Hayes F. Samuels Sr. Memorial Chapel, 114 N. Church St. in Manning, with the Rev. Jerome McCray officiating. Burial will follow in Muldrow Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the home of her mother-in-law, Ruby King, 1158 Willow Tree Ave. in Manning.
These services have been entrusted to Samuels Funeral Home LLC of Manning.

TURBEVILLE — Marie Harrison Burgess, 79, widow of Robert Burgess, died Friday, June 9, 2017, at Palmetto Health Tuomey in Sumter.
Born Aug. 15, 1937, in Turbeville, she was a daughter of the late George “Buck” Harrison and Louvenia Taylor Harrison.
The family will receive friends at her home, 1089 Cam St. in Turbeville.
These services have been entrusted to Samuels Funeral Home LLC of Manning.

Ryan Lee Hinson graduated May 5 from Central Carolina Technical College and June 3 from Manning High School. He was one of seven students to receive an associate’s degree before receiving his high school diploma through a new CCTC program. – From his family and father, Tim Hinson.
