Miss Clarendon Teen Julia Herrin had made the Top 10 in 2016 at the Miss South Carolina Teen Pageant while representing Lexington. So, it was no surprise when she hit that milestone again Friday night while representing Clarendon County at the Township Auditorium in Columbia in the 2017 Miss South Carolina Teen competition. Ultimately, Herrin placed 2nd runner-up to Ally McCaslin. Herrin had won two preliminaries throughout the week, coming up first in the evening gown and on-stage question portion on Tuesday and in talent on Wednesday during the week-long event. “The Miss Clarendon Committee is very proud of Miss Clarendon Teen 2017 Julia Herrin,” said co-lead Executive Director Julia Herrin. “When she won the title of Miss Clarendon Teen, she hit the ground running. She is a talented young lady with a heart of gold.” Though she was gunning for the win, Herrin said she left Columbia Saturday with no regrets. “I left Columbia with a full heart,” she said. “I am so thankful for every experience the Miss South Carolina pageant has provided me. I made some of my very best friends this week, and made some amazing memories.” She said that she felt right at home with the Miss Clarendon Crew. “I cannot thank them enough for all they’ve done for me this past week,” she said. “All of the volunteers at state made sure we had everything we needed. To everyone that has supported me on this amazing journey, all I can say is that I am so thankful to have placed 2nd runner-up to Ally McCaslin.” Trebil said she looks forward to having Herrin serve out the remainder of her term as Miss Clarendon Teen 2017. A new queen will be chosen in February 2018. “I told Julia that no matter the outcome of this week, that I would be so proud of her. I am bursting with pride about her performance. I’m blessed to know this young lady and I look forward to having her back in Clarendon County to continue to serve as Miss Clarendon Teen.” Though not a Clarendon resident herself, Herrin said she heard about the Miss Clarendon Scholarship Pageant and the Miss Clarendon Crew from fellow Lexington resident Sara Eliabeth Levitt, who served as Miss Clarendon Teen 2016. “She couldn’t say enough about the support that the local community and businesses, as well as the Miss Clarendon organization gave to her last year,” said Herrin. “I knew I wanted to be involved in a community that supports its titleholder so profusely.” Herrin said though the 2017 pageant season is over for her, she is not finished with the Miss South Carolina Organization. “Isaiah 60:22 says, ‘When the time is right, I the Lord will make it happen,’” she said. “My heart is content.”
