Manning First Baptist to welcome new pastor

Manning First Baptist Church members will welcome a new pastor during services on July 16.

Dr. Phillip Reynolds, who was born and raised in the Pinewood area of Sumter County, will join the church as its new pastor. He is married to the former Betsy James of Sumter. They have three married sons, Jason, James and John, and a daughter, Mary Beth. They have seven grandchildren.

Both Reynolds and his wife are graduates of the University of South Carolina. Betsy Reynolds is a teacher and girls' basketball coach. Phillip received his master of divinity with languages from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, North Carolina; he received his doctorate from Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond in Richmond, Virginia.

The couple is coming from Hickory First Baptist Church in Hickory, North Carolina. Reynolds has pastored churches in Hattiesburg, Mississippi; Columbia; and Lawndale and Buies Creek, North Carolina.

His mother, Ann Reynolds, served as director of nursing at Clarendon Memorial Hospital for many years.

The church asks that you join at 11 a.m. July 16 for Sunday morning worship services.
