Summerton man denied bond on attempted murder, arson charges

A Summerton man deemed armed and dangerous by the Clarendon County Sheriff's Office is now at the Clarendon County Detention Center Woodley Demetrius Coard, 32, of 4594 Moses Dingle Road in Summerton, was charged Thursday with attempted murder and arson after reportedly turning himself into deputies. Sheriff Tim Baxley said Monday that Coard has refused to speak with police. Jail officials did not have information regarding Coard's legal representation. Deputies alleged that Coard attempted to set fire to a care while a man was asleep in it, and then shot at the man when he escaped the vehicle. The incident happened April 11, 2017, in the Davis Station area, according to reports from the Sheriff’s Office. Coard's bond on both charges was denied Friday, according to jail records.
