A 47-year-old Sumter man was killed about 4 p.m. Sunday after allegedly jumping off the U.S. 301 bridge over Lake Marion. Clarendon County Deputy Coroner Bucky Mock said Joseph Cutter is believed to have jumped near the north end of the causeway of the bridge. He said that Cutter's body was recovered from the water by the Clarendon County Fire Department, EMS and Sheriff's Office and the state Department of Natural Resources. He said that an autopsy will be performed Tuesday at the Medical University of South Carolina to determine exact cause of death.
