A 2003 Kia Rio valued at $3,500, along with a license tag valued at $24, were reportedly stolen of a home in the 3200 block of St. James Road near Lake City about 9 a.m. June 1. According to reports from the Clarendon County Sheriff's Office, the victim who lived at the home told deputies that two male subjects came into his yard and told him he owed another man money. The man told the subjects that he didn't owe anyone money, and the subjects told him they were going to take the Kia until he paid the money. The Kia reportedly had no license tag, no insurance and only a little gas in it, the victim told deputies. The men too the license tag off another vehicle parked at the home to place on the vehicle when they took it. The victim said the keys were in the ignition of the vehicle at the time the subjects took it.
