A 30-year-old woman living in the 200 block of East Keitt Street in Manning told the Manning Police Department about 9:49 p.m May 27 that a 31-year-old man chocked her for several seconds in the front yard of the home with a "strong grip around her neck." The victim alleged that she could not breathe and felt like she was going to pass out. Police noted visibly red areas around the woman's neck, as well as a red scratch on the right side of her neck. Police took photographs of the woman's alleged injuries. The woman also had a bruise on her right elbow from the struggle, along with a bruise on the left side of her chest and light bruising about the center of her upper chest, reports stated. The victim said the suspect would not let go of her, so she was able to bit him on his hand to get free, but that he began choking her again. The victim said the man took his book bag and left the home after she called police.
