Letter: Coach Young thanks those who congratulated her on retirement

Thank you so much allowing my former students and all the businesses that placed an ad in your paper to honor my retirement. I am without words to express how honored I am. Since moving to Manning in 1981, I can truly say that Manning is "Matchless for Beauty and Hospitality." Between my teaching, coaching and mentoring the youth through mission work with MUMC and working in this special school district, my cup surely runneth over with blessings. Over the past 35 years that I have worked in Clarendon School District 2, many students have impacted my life. Some have grown and gone into the workforce. Some have blessed me with the opportunity to work with your sons or daughters. I thank God everyday for allowing me to have the chance to work with so many wonderful people. Each business that purchased an advertisement in the special section, you have truly made me feel special by allowing my former students to leave me messages. I have been blessed to work with those of you that I taught or taught your children. I know without your funds this would not have been possible. All former students that left me a message, even if it was not printed, I was able to see what each of you wrote. Thank you! You made me the woman I am today. Coach John Thames would be so proud of the woman you helped him mold. Parents, students, peers and my church (Manning United Methodist), you got me through the hardest times of my life. My parents could not understand why I didn't move home in 1995. They knew later how awesome each of you are and the impact you had on my life. I am forever grateful! I will surely miss teaching as I have spent the last 38 years of my life getting up, going to work with youth in some way or another. This new chapter is scary to me. I will always be available to each if you need me. I love Manning High, Manning United Methodist Church, Clarendon County and South Carolina.
