Mason Palmer Bethea Moore, 42, of Three Forks, Montana, died Tuesday, May 16, 2017, killed in the line of duty as a Broadwater County Sheriff's deputy.

Born May 8, 1975, in Manning, he was a son of MaryAnne Grayson and Nebraska E. Moore II. He attended Clarendon Hall and graduated from Manning High School. He received a bachelor of science degree in criminal justice from Western Carolina University.

Mason married the love of his life, Jodi Woods, on May 22, 1999, in Hurdle Mills, North Carolina His love for family and friends and his desire to make a difference in his community drove him to dedicate his life to public service.

Moore served as a law enforcement officer for the University of South Carolina Police Department, the Lexington County Sheriff's Office, the Clarendon County Sheriff's Office, Motor Carrier Services of Bozeman, Montana, and the Broadwater County Sheriff's Office. He also served as a volunteer firefighter for Central Valley Fire Department in Belgrade, Montana, and the Three Forks Fire Department in Three Forks, Montana.

Mason grew up attending Summerton Baptist Church in Summerton. He had a deep and personal relationship with God. Mason and his family are an active part of the Bridge Church family in Belgrade.

Mason loved hunting and hiking. He was a family man; his family was most important to him. Mason's loving bear hugs were legendary.

Mason was preceded in death by grandparents, Archie Bethea Grayson, James Grayson J.r, Kathleen Moore and Ned Moore; and his uncle, ATF Special Agent James Grayson III and great-aunt, Judge Thomasine Grayson Mason

Survivors besides his wife, Jodi of Three Forks, include his twin sons, Chase Mason Moore and Cole Woods Moore, both of Three Forks; a daughter, Branna Kaycee Carey Moore, of Three Forks; his parents, MaryAnne and Nebraska Moore, both of Summerton; and a brother and sister-in-law, Nebraska and Stephanie Moore of Summerville.

Mason loved and adored his family and friends and we loved and adored him. They will carry him and his love in our hearts for the rest of our lives.

A closed casket visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m, Monday, May 22, 2017, at the Bridge Church, 608 N. Jackrabbit Lane in Belgrade, Montana.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at the Bridge Church. It will be live-streamed at the Belgrade Events Center, 220 Spooner Road in Belgrade and Three Forks High School gymnasium, 210 E. Neal St. in Three Forks.

Moore will lie in state at the Three Forks Gym during a reception from 3 to 5 p.m.

Burial will take place in Summerton.
