Holcombe chosen by Black River legion for Boys State

Laurence Manning Academy junior Dalton Wade Holcombe is one of five young men chosen by Black River Post No. 149 of New Zion to participate this summer in the American Legion Palmetto Boys State at Anderson University. Holcombe, the son of Randy and Jeanette Holcombe of Alcolu, will attend Boys State from June 1-17. At Laurence Manning Academy in Manning, he plays football and baseball and is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Boys State will feature more than 1,000 South Carolina residents attending a vigorous week of intense training in local, county and state government. Attendees will elect a governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general, secretary of state, state treasurer, state comptroller, Supreme Court justice and members of the House of Representatives and the Senate. Additionally, students may take classes in law and newspaper editing, as well as participate in the Palmetto Boys State band.
