A 24-year-old Sumter County man who turned himself into Clarendon County authorities midday Monday will remain in custody at the Clarendon County Detention Center. Officials at the jail said that Roscoe Wade Brown, 24, was denied bond on charges of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, kidnapping, possession of a weapon during a violent crime and possession of a weapon by a felon. Sheriff Tim Baxley said the incident which led to the charges involved a female held against her will May 3 in Clarendon County. The Sheriff's Office released information about Brown last week in an effort to find him, and Baxley said at one point deputies believed he could be hiding as far away as Horry County. He was said to be armed and dangerous. He will have to wait 45 days before appealing the bond decision before a Circuit Court Judge in Clarendon County General Sessions Court.
