SUMTER – Pearl Maxine Sullivan, 84, died Thursday, May 11, 2017, at Palmetto Health Richland in Columbia.

Born Aug. 21, 1932, in Manning, she was a daughter of the late Lucious Samuel Sullivan and Julia Jennette Way Sullivan. She was a member of Washington Street United Methodist Church in Columbia.

She was retired from Southern Bell Telephone and was an active member of the Telephone Pioneers. She was very active in many civic groups and community projects.

Survivors include a sister, Clara Epps of Manning; a sister-in-law, Ruby Sullivan of Turbeville; two special cousins, June McKnight Davis of Manning and Marian McKnight Conway of Paso Robels, California; two special nieces, Cheryl Wingard and Julie Lee, both of Turbeville; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Jimmy Sullivan and Jackie Sullivan; and a sister-in-law, Martha Sullivan.

A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Monday, May 15, 2017, at Pine Grove United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Tim Freeman officiating. Burial will follow in Live Oak Cemetery in Manning.

Pallbearers will include Tylar Lee, Sulli Lee, Jamie Sullivan, Brent Sullivan, Ron Wingard, Kevin Wingard and David Spigner.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, May 14, 2017, at the home of Keith and Cheryl Wingard, 1469 David Chalmers Road in Turbeville.
