Charles Wendell Anderson, husband of Helena Seamour, died Friday, April 28, 2017, at the Veterans Medical Center in Washington, D.C.

Born Sept. 21, 1942, in the Westminster section of Clarendon County, he was a son of the late Ruth Anderson. He was raised by his grandparents, the late Henry and Addie Lesesne Anderson.

He joined Westminster Presbyterian Church in his youth, serving there as an elder and on several other auxiliaries.

He attended Clarendon County public schools and was a 1960 graduate of Boggs Academy in Keysville, Georgia. He received a bachelor of science degree from the Howard University School of Engineering.

He was also in the ROTC program. He received his law degree from Northern Virginia School of Law in Alexandria, Virginia, and a jurist master's degree from George Washington University.

He taught in Washington, D.C., and Fairfax, Virginia, public schools.

He also served in the U.S. Air Force, obtaining the rank of captain. He was honorable discharged.

He was the proprietor of Anderson Bonding Services of Alcolu for 10 years. Prior to that, he was a member of the Million Dollar Salesman Club at Keller Williams Real Estate Agency in Alexandria. He was also a patent examiner at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in Washington, D.C.

Survivors besides his wife of Alcolu include a daughter, Jacjuita K. Anderson of Philadelphia; a granddaughter, Destiny L. Harrison of Philadelphia; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Memorial services for Charles Wendell Anderson will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 13, 2017, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 9124 Plowden Mill Road in Alcolu, with the Rev. Alonza Washington, stated supply pastor, officiating.

Services have been entrusted to Samuels Funeral Home LLC of Manning.
