East Clarendon eighth-graders take 1st in National History Day competition

East Clarendon Middle-High School eighth-grade students Christine Fleming, Noel Freeman and Jinal Patel competed April 29 in the South Carolina History Day competition. The students previously qualified at the regional National History Day competition. Fleming, Freeman and Patel were awarded first place in the Junior Group Exhibit Division. Their project focused on the life and contributions of women's voting rights activist Alice Paul. The students will now compete at the National History Day competition at the University of Maryland in June.
