Six of CCTC's welding students competed in the South Carolina Technical College 35th Annual Welding Skills Competition held at Spartanburg Community College on April 20-21. The students who attended the competition are Thomas Shotwell, Christian Frey, Clayton Possert, Myles Rumbold, Robert Harllee and Daquan McCray. Thomas Shotwell placed third in Category 1: Aluminum Tee joint welded with Gas Tungsten Arc Welding in the vertical position, Carbon Steel Tee Joint welded with Gas Tungsten Arc Welding in the vertical position and Carbon Steel V-groove welded with Gas Metal Arc Welding in the vertical position. Daquan McCray placed second in Category 6: Stainless Steel Three Inch Sch. 40 Pipe in the 6G position welded with Gas Tungsten Arc Welding.
