Holy Temple of Jesus Christ and Woman to Woman Ministries in Summerton partnered together to give out food donated from the Harvest Hope Foundation in March.

More than 150 people turned out to the event hosted by Holy Temple of Jesus Christ in Summerton March 28.  According to sources, members of the community started lining up as early as 5 a.m., waiting for the doors to open at 6.

Woman to Woman Ministries Director of Relations Carol Combs has partnered with Harvest Hope Pee Dee Region Agency Relations Specialist Carl Goodson.

“Our partnership began during the last flood when we worked together to distribute food to the community,” said Combs.  “He makes sure that our ministry has the food truck for distribution days.”

Sarah King and her son, Tony King, were recipients of donations from the drive and had positive things to say about the staff’s friendly and welcoming demeanor. She was so pleased that after returning home she went back to the church just to express her gratitude to volunteers.

“I wasn’t in the line long and this was my first visit,” she said. “The volunteer staff treated us with so much respect it was very refreshing. They acted like we were doing them a favor even though they were the ones helping us.”

The staff welcomed us all and showed no favoritism,” she continued. “They were very pleasant, other places I’ve been to in the past made us feel like we were nobody.  They were very organized and compassionate volunteers and I truly felt respected.”
