Barbara Ann DuBose Mellette

SANTEE – Barbara Ann DuBose Mellette, 82, widow of the Rev. Thomas Madison Mellette, went to be with her Lord and Savior peacefully at her home Tuesday, May 2, 2017.

Born April 30, 1935, in Turbeville, she was a daughter of the late Robert Alvin and Olive Dennis DuBose. She graduated from East Clarendon High School and attended Columbia College. She was devoted to her family and friends. She was an owner of Best Western Santee Inn and Lake Marion Inn, having spent most of her life in the hospitality industry. She was a faithful member of Summerton Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Vicki Mellette Ouzts (Rock) of Manning; two grandsons, Michael Owen Ouzts and Robert Thomas Ouzts; two brothers, Robert Lester DuBose of Santee and Dr. James Daulton DuBose (Kathy) of Summerton; two nieces, Olive Elizabeth DuBose and Dixie DuBose Stukes (Chalmers); and three great-nieces, Olivia Brunson, Ella Stukes and Grace Stukes.

A celebration of life service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, May 4, 2017, at Summerton Baptist Church. with the Revs. Billy Carlisle, Donald Duncan and Jim Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Clarendon Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 3, 2017, at Stephens Funeral Home, and other times at the home of Rock and Vicki Ouzts, 1102 Bob White Drive in Manning.

The family would like to thank Dr. Robert S. Eagerton Jr. and staff, Santee Cooper Urgent Care, Regional Medical Center of Orangeburg and Agapé Hospice for their loving and compassionate care.
