Coroner's Office: 'No trauma' in Santee man's death on lake

The Clarendon County Coroner's Office will have to wait several weeks to know the cause of death for a man whose body was found off a Lizzie Creek dock on Tuesday evening. Deputy Coroner Bucky Mock said Santee resident Gregory Craven, 68, was working on a dock "for someone on our side of the lake, and we're not sure what happened to him at this time." Mock said Friday that an autopsy at the Medical University of South Carolina showed that there was no trauma to Craven's body, and that his office will have to wait on a toxicology report before making a final determination of cause of death. Mock said that Clarendon County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the area of M.W. Rickenbaker Road near Summerton about 6 p.m. Tuesday and called the Coroner’s Office about 8 p.m.
