Manning man charged with theft from motor vehicle

A 19-year-old Manning man was charged April 7 with theft from motor vehicle by the Manning Police Department. According to reports, surveillance footage from an apartment complex in the area of Dickson Street in Manning showed Jekez Montee Conyers of 211 Dickson St. allegedly enter a vehicle without permission after finding the door open and taking $20 from inside. The vehicle belonged to a 76-year-old woman living in the complex, and the incident allegedly happened between 4:41 a.m. April 3 and 5 p.m. April 5, according to reports from the Manning Police Department. The complex manager reported it to police after reviewing video footage about two days after the incident. Conyers made a $2,000 surety bond on the same day of his arrest, according to the Clarendon County Public Court Index.
