Sumter man lands enhanced shoplifting charge after allegedly taking, returning items for gift card

A Sumter man was arrested in late March after allegedly entering a Manning store, taking items without purchasing them and then returning the items for a gift card. Mickey Anderson Ward, 55, of 110 Macy St. in Sumter, was charged March 27 with shoplifting of goods of a value of $2,000 or less, enhancement. According to reports from the Manning Police Department, Ward entered the store and allegedly took a pair of gloves, a rifle sling and a shotgun shell belt about 4:54 pm. April 13 and then re-entered the store and allegedly returned the stolen items to receive a gift card. The items were altogether valued at $65.56.
