ALCOLU – Robert Edward Andrews Sr., 73, husband of Betty Simpson Andrews, died Thursday, April 13, 2017, at Palmetto Health Tuomey in Sumter.

Born May 9, 1943, he was a son of the late John Alexander Andrews Sr. and Frances Jackson Andrews. He was a disabled U.S. Marine veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of New Start Community Church of the Nazarene.

Survivors besides his wife include a son, Robert E. Andrews Jr. of Alcolu; a grandson, Robert E. Andrews III; a niece, Kimberly A. Brunson Bonneville (Michael) of Richlands, North Carolina; a great-niece, Lauren Bonneville of Richlands; a great nephew, Michael Bonneville Jr. of Richlands; five brothers, Timothy H. Andrews of Alcolu, Howard W. Andrews (Treavor) of Florida, Charles H. Andrews of Lexington, Benjamin J. Andrews (Carolyn) of Louisiana and Oregon “Tex” Andrews (Linda) of Florida; two sisters, Doris H. Morris and Annie L. Newman (Laverne), both of Sumter; and special nephews B.W. Kolb, Allen Kolb, Archie Green (Cecelia) and Bill Simpson (Christy).

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Francis B. Andrews and John A. Andrews; and two sisters, Emma I. Medmar and Mary E. Kolb.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 22, 2017, at New Start Community Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Dale Turner officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 10–11 a.m. Saturday, April 22, 2017, prior to the service at the church.
