A Manning man is currently awaiting a bond hearing in a Sumter jail on various charges. Jawan Montel Mack, 20, of 1867 Patriot Road in Manning, is charged with third-degree domestic violence and malicious injury to personal property related to an incident that happened Feb. 7 in Sumter. Sumter Sheriff's Office spokesman Ken Bell said that Mack allegedly punched an unidentified victim in the head and face at a home in the 5500 block of Edghill Road in Sumter County. Mack then allegedly threw a cement bloc through the front windshield and driver's side window, causing about $440 in damages, Bell added. Mack just recently pleaded guilty in Clarendon County to second-degree burglary, non-violent, receiving a sentence of five years in prison, suspended to six months in prison and 18 months' probation. He also faces charges in Pennsylvania relating to an alleged assault and kidnapping at a motel there.
