Scott's Branch High School track Coach Wayne Farmer was inducted Saturday into the South Carolina Track and Cross Country Coaches Association Hall of Fame.
A native of Florence, Farmer has twice been named Coach of the Year at Scott's Branch High School, taking the honor in 2015 and 2016.
A graduate of West Florence High School and South Carolina State University, Farmer began his coaching career at West Florence High School, and has coached track at Bamberg-Ehrhardt, Elloree, Denmark-Olar, Allendale-Fairfax and Scott's Branch high schools.
Farmer has hosted and won 11 Region Championships. During his 29-year coaching career, Farmer has won more than 20 region titles, three state runners-up positions and seven South Carolina High School League State Championships.
While at Elloree High School, he was named Coach of the Year in 1999 and 2000, and won a boys' Class A State Championship. At Denmark-Olar, he was named Coach of the Year for 2003, 2004 and 2005, and he won a girls' Class A State Championship.
At Allendale-Fairfax, he coached the boys' team to the Class A State Championship for four years in a row from 2007-10, and the girls' team won in 2009.
Last year, he led the Scott's Branch High School boys' team to the runners-up position in the Class A State Championship meet.
