Clarendon County's local hospital is preparing to host a ball to benefit cancer patients. The McLeod Health Foundation, which benefits McLeod Health Clarendon, will host the new event, the Sparkle of Hope Ball, on May 5 in the Cypress Center. The event will benefit the Helping Oncology Patients Everyday (HOPE) Fund at McLeod Health Clarendon, said McLeod Health Foundation Director Carrie Anna Strange. "Proceeds from this special evening will support mammogram scholarships for women with limited financial resources living in Clarendon and surrounding counties," said Strange. The Sparkle of Hope Ball will feature the band Flashback, who plays a mix of Motown, beach, disco and party music. There will also be a strolling dinner, cocktails and a silent auction. Tickets are $75 per person, Strange said. "This is going to a be a special evening that will help raise awareness of breast cancer and benefit many women in our community," Strange said. "It's going to be an event you don't want to miss." Strange said that sponsorship opportunities are still available.
