Sheriff: No gun at Manning High

Clarendon County Sheriff Tim Baxley said late Wednesday night that reports of a gun on campus at Manning High School earlier this week were false. Baxley said that the school resource officer from his office heard reports Wednesday morning that a student had brought a gun to school Tuesday. Baxley said that the situation was far less dangerous. "A student had some (shot pellets) of the type used in BB guns," Baxley said. "She had them in her pocket and took them out and handed them to another student." Baxley said another student then reported to the school administration that a student had brought a gun to school. "There was nothing to it, and no one was injured," Baxley said.
