A 65-year-old Manning man is currently being held at the Sumter-Lee Regional Detention Center after his arrest March 6 for the alleged stalking of a Sumter woman. Alonza Gibson of 1648 Arlen Road in Manning was arrested Thursday and charged with stalking. He was granted a $5,000 surety bond on the charge by a Sumter magistrate judge. Warrants state that "on at least four occasions since March 18, Gibson made unwanted contact with a female victim." "The victim had previously complained about Gibson, who was issued a courtesy summons for harassment at the time," reads a report from the Sumter County Sheriff's Office. "Since then, the victim reported that she has seen Gibson sitting outside of her house on at least four occasions." Gibson has not posted bond, according to the Sumter-Lee Regional Detention Center website. He faces up to five years and a $5,000 fine, if convicted.
