Two Manning men remain at the Clarendon County Detention Center and one remains in critical condition at a nearby hospital after an alleged shooting last weekend in the Edna Street area of Manning. According to Sheriff Tim Baxley, Emmanuel Dewitt Morant suffered a gunshot wound to his upper-right chest area about 1:40 a.m. Feb. 18. "Two assailants entered the home (in the 1000 block of Edna Street in Manning) with the intent to rob the occupants," said Baxley. "Several shots were fired in the house and one hit Morant in the upper-right chest." Baxley said witnesses identified both subjects from a State Law Enforcement Division photo lineup. Mikah Nelson Green, 18, of 5224 Summerton Highway in Manning, was charged with attempted murder, and Damien Octavius Samuel, 29, of 1448 Lockwood Circle in Alcolu, was charged with accessory after the fact. Bond was denied for both suspects. Baxley said further charges are pending, and the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to call (803) 435-4414.
