Vandalism, burglary reported at Phoenix High, Alcolu Head Start

The Clarendon County Sheriff's Office is currently investigating the alleged burglary and vandalism of an Alcolu building that serves both Phoenix High School and Head Start. An employee told deputies on Feb. 16, according to reports, that when she arrived at the school about 7 a.m. that she found a broken window on the side of the building which houses the Fleming-Felder Head Start program. She said she also found a fire extinguisher missing from the bus that she drives, along with the glove box being open. Other employees reported finding more windows broken throughout the building, which is located at 1423 Hotel St. in Alcolu. Deputies reported that rooms with broken windows were vandalized inside. An iPad valued at $600 was reportedly stolen. Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call the Sheriff's Office at (803) 435-4414.
