A look back: Man charged with murder after brawl at business

A 27-year-old Manning man was charged with manslaughter for his alleged role in the death of a 34-year-old Gable man during a fight at Mid-Eastern Truck Wash on Aug. 25. Wallace Demery Jr. of 3019 Arlen Road in Manning was taken to the Clarendon County Detention Center after deputies responded to the report of a fight at the business on A.M. Nash Road. According to reports, when deputies arrived and asked what was going on, they found the victim lying in a pool of blood, and Demery allegedly told deputies, “I had to get him off me.” Jeffrey Myron Ceasar was found by deputies in a locked storage room, according to reports. Sheriff Randy Garrett said that the two men got into a fight at the business about 8 p.m. Reports indicate that Ceasar had “head injuries.” Bond was later denied for Demery, and he remains at the Clarendon County Detention Center.
