McLeod Health announces new nephrologist

McLeod Health announced Tuesday the addition of a new nephrologist to the hospital's staff. Dr. Adan Alaska is in practice with Dr. Nada Hassan, Dr. Subash Regmi, and Dr. Holly Smith as part of McLeod Nephrology Associates. "There is a need in our community for specialist to care for patients with kidney disease, high blood pressure, and a variety of other kidney-related conditions," reads a release from McLeod. "To meet this need, Dr. Adnan Alsaka, a board certified nephrology specialist with McLeod Nephrology Associates, is now offering a special clinic in Manning." In addition to seeing patients in Florence, Alsaka will provide care in Manning, South Carolina at 409 S. Mill St. Alsaka comes to McLeod from LifePoint Hospitals Inc. in northern Louisiana, where he served as the director of the Hemodialysis and Intensive Care units. Alsaka specializes in kidney care and treating diseases of the kidneys. Commonly treated conditions include chronic kidney disease (CKD), polycystic kidney disease (PKD), acute renal failure, kidney stones, high blood pressure, and all aspects of kidney transplantation and dialysis. “McLeod promotes excellence in healthcare,” said Alsaka, “I look forward to providing effective healthcare as part of a patient centered team.” Alsaka is accepting new patients by appointment and referral. In 2013, the hospital completed a $22 million, 47,000 square foot expansion and renovation, encompassing new operating rooms, an emergency department, same-day surgery center and larger patient rooms.
