Power surges likely due to high winds

Momentary lapses in electrical power are apparently being caused by high winds in the Clarendon County and downtown Manning area, according to Duke Energy spokesman Theo Lane. "It's likely that the wind is making tree limbs and trees blow up against some of the lines," said Lane, who noted he's instructed crews to go out and look to see if they can cut anything back to alleviate the problem. "We're also looking to see if there are any downed trees causing problems, maybe lying on a line."
