A 26-year-old Sumter woman was charged about 9:15 a.m. Nov. 10 with possession with intent to distribute marijuana and driving under suspension after a traffic stop in the 2000 block of Paxville Highway in Manning.
According to reports, police saw a silver 2010 Nissan Altima driven by Kiana Sherita Tomlin, 26, of 365 County Springs Drive in Sumter, allegedly disregard a stop sign and turn right on S.C. 261 headed toward Paxville. After initiating the stop, police came in contact with Tomlin, who stated there was no marijuana in the vehicle, despite the alleged smell of marijuana.
Police reported searching the vehicle and finding roughly 58 grams of marijuana in two plastic bags in the driver’s side door, a clear plastic bag in the center console and a quart jar in a book bag in the driver’s seat.
Tomlin allegedly told police that all marijuana was for her personal use. A records check through dispatch showed her license was also suspended.
Police also found a 9-millimeter semi-automatic handgun during the search.
