Man charged with larceny after allegedly taking $60 from cash register

A 46-year-old Summerton man was charged with larceny about 2:32 p.m. Nov. 4 after allegedly taking $60 from a cash register at a business in the 100 block of South Mill Street in Manning. According to reports from the Manning Police Department, the business' owner told police that he saw the suspect, Charles Anthony Hughes, enter the store, walk behind the counter and into the office where the cash register was located. The owner confronted the suspect before he could leave the premises, and said the suspect told him he was down on his luck and need the money. Police transported Hughes to the Clarendon County Detention Center, and returned the money to the business.
