Mamie Lorie Jackson Geddings, 96, widow of Murray Geddings, died Thursday, Nov. 17, 2016, at her home.

Born Feb. 12, 1920, in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Zannie J. Jackson and Lorie Hudson Jackson. She was a member of Home Branch Baptist Church, where she served as the organist and pianist and had taught Sunday school since the age of 16.

Survivors include three daughters, Naomi Dukes (Harold), Sarah Ann Poplin and Beverly Padgett, all of Manning; a son, Murray Ellsworth Geddings of Manning; two brothers, Sammie Jackson (Joan) of Sumter and Marion Jackson (Jessie) of Florence; 11 grandchildren, Felder Poplin (Janice), Lee Wells (Jerry), Cris Rodgers (Terry), Jo Bozeman (Charles), Carol Bochette, Dwan Beach (Everette), Worth Geddings, Sharon Brinson (Anthony), Tami Wynne, Boyd Padgett (Ivie) and Brent Padgett; 19 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Audrey Jean Geddings; a grandson, Billy Dukes; a great grandson, Craig Bagnal; two sisters, Alethea J. Geddings and Pearl Morris; and four brothers, David Jackson, Raymond Jackson, Harold Jackson and T.W. Jackson.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 21, 2016, at Home Branch Baptist Church, with the Rev. Benny Barwick and the Rev. Robert Haynes officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Grandsons, great-grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 20, 2016, at Stephens Funeral Home, and at other times at the home of her daughter, 1940 Stone Road in Manning.
