Old Georgetown, King roads not to open until after Thanksgiving

Two roads maintained by the state Department of Transportation which saw washouts from Hurricane Matthew will not likely be reopening before Thanksgiving, according to a release from the agency. King Road, which is closed for a 3.46-mile stretch from S.C. 260, and Old Georgetown Road, which is closed for a 3.17-mile stretch from Crossroads Church Road to Bradham Road, are not projected to reopen until after that holiday, in fact. Both roads suffered washouts due to Hurricane Matthew, which hit Clarendon County Oct. 8, nearly a year to the day after the October 2015 flood.
