SUMTER - Marguerite Pierson Morris, 95, widow of Carol Edwin Morris Sr., died Thursday, Oct. 6, 2016, at McElveen Manor.

Born April 4, 1921, in Sumter County, she was a daughter of the late George and Evie Osteen Pierson. She was a very active member of Providence Baptist Church and a member of the Daughters of the Confederacy.

Survivors include two sons, Carol Edwin “Eddie” Morris Jr. (Rhonda) of Lake Wylie and George McCutcheon “Mac” Morris (Tammy) of Blythewood; five grandchildren, Lauren Ashley Reed (Chris), Haley Alexis Morris, Taylor McCutcheon Morris (Liz), Ryan Ingram Morris (Jaimie) and Madalyn Hudson Morris; two brothers, Sam Pierson and Baxter Pierson both of Sumter; and two sisters, Hazel Wilson and Frances Kolar (Joe), all of Sumter.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Gaither Pierson and Paul Pierson.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Monday at Providence Baptist Church with Pastor Pat Coffey and Pastor Wayne McElveen officiating.

Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery.

Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m. Monday at Providence Baptist Church.
