These photos show the extent of flooding in downtown Manning.

"The Manning Fire and Police departments have had to rescue and transport people from their homes in Manning to a shelter," Manning Mayor Julia Nelson said on Facebook. "I was sad to learn that Meadowfield Apartments are under water once more."

She said the Manning High shelter had 235 people staying there as of 9 a.m. Saturday, while East Clarendon High School has 20 people.

"With the guidance of MPD, these photos were taken about 9 a.m.," Nelson said. "We have several streets with partial, localized flooding, including Huggins, Commerce Boyce, Breedin, Frazier, Major Drive, Dyson, Collins, Paul Smith, Haseldon, and others," she said.

"I am not easily frightened, but I'm not going back out," she said. "I would encourage everyone to remain home unless you need to go to the shelter. Entering and exiting Pine Knoll will soon be a big challenge. There are very few businesses open as well."
