Mosquitoes a problem for Clarendon residents

Manning Mayor Julia Nelson said Monday that the city has had two trucks spraying for mosquitoes throughout city limits every night. The critters have been more abundant since Hurricane Matthew dropped more than 10 inches of rain on Clarendon County in early October. Clarendon County Administrator David Epperson said that the county has no plans to spray at this time. To counter the nuisances, the state Department of Health and Environmental Control is offering residents tips to reduce breeding rounds and deal with the critters. Trick-or-Treating time set for Monday

Trick-or-Treating in Clarendon County and the City of Manning will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Monday. Children should be accompanied by parents or guardians at all time, wear reflective clothing and take flash lights. Also, do not eat candy until a parent has been able to inspect it. Pet of the Day: Missy

Missy is a 4-year-old grey and white Yorkie mix. She is current on her shots and has already been spayed. Missy gets along well with cats, and she is possessive over her toys. She is a very sweet baby. Her adoption fee is $125. Come see her at A Second Chance Animal Shelter on Alex Harvin Highway in Manning from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
