SPARTANBURG - Latisha Degraffenreid has been awarded the Helen P. Biehl Endowmen Scholarship from the University of South Carolina Upstate Foundation. Degraffenreid is majoring in Nursing. "These privatly funded scholarships are created and supported by alumni, current faculty and staff, retirees, friends and corporate partners of USC Upstate," said USC Upstate Director of Development and Foundation Scholarships Bea Walters Smith. "Each scholarship has specific criteria and awards up to $2,500 per year." A separate application is required for these scholarships and the application is available online at www.uscupstate.edu/foundationscholarships from Nov. 1 to Feb. 1 on the USC Upstate Financial Aid website. Students who are eligible for these scholarships are notified in the summer months and are invited to meet their scholarship donors at a University event every fall. The Foundation awarded more than $96,000 during the 2016-17 academic year. For more information contact Bea Walters Smith at (864) 503-5235 or bwsmith@uscupstate.edu.
