The Clarendon County Sheriff's Office said a death in front of a church in the 1000 block of Dingle Pond Road in Summerton on Tuesday was due to natural causes. Sheriff Randy Garrett said that Earlin Keith Bennett, 53, of Summerton, spent some time each day sitting on the churchhouse steps at the Church of God. He was found sitting there, unresponsive, on Tuesday afternoon. Garrett said an autopsy showed Bennett likely died due to a massive heart attack. Readers wrote manninglive.com on Wednesday, concerned about a police presence on Tuesday at the church that allegedly included crime-scene tape. "It was a case of natural causes," said Garrett. "There was no foul play or anything else like that suspected."
