Summerton resident Cindyt Risher has been named the state director for the Palmetto State branch of the Foundation for Liberty and American Greatness, or FLAG, "an educational not-for-profit organization dedicated to proclaiming the greatness of American and refuting the fallacy of anti-Americanism," according to the group's website. "FLAG trains youth to understand American greatness, value their liberty, defend their country and engage the culture, as well as exposing and neutralizing the propaganda arm of anti-Americanism: the global news media," the group's website states. Risher, a retired educator who worked in both Clarendon and Florence county schools, among others, currently serves as a board member with Clarendon School District 1. She is active in Clarendon County and South Carolina GOP circles, having served as the treasurer for the 6th District GOP and also as the second district vice-chairwoman for the Clarendon GOP. "FLAG has scored a touchdown in the great state of South Carolina," said FLAG founder Nick Adams on Tuesday while announcing Risher's appointment on Facebook. "She is one of the bar-setters for patriotism. She is an amazing lady, and will be responsible for making FLAG a household name to almost 5 million South Carolinians. She needs as much patriotic volunteer help, as well as FLAG charitable giving as she can get!" For more information, visit www.flagusa.org.
