SAFE Federal Credit Union has a new vice-president of marketing. Toby Hayes was recently named to the position, which will require him to drive the credit union's strong and steady growth, said President and CEO Beverly Gagne. "It is that growth that has made SAFE the larges credit union in the Midlands and the fourth largest in South Carolina," Gagne said. "We welcome Toby's experience and energy to SAFE. He will carry out our credit union's mission, which is to make sure that our members enjoy the ultimate in service and convenience in all their financial dealings with SAFE." Hayes has held key marketing positions at credit unions in Texas and California over a 10-year career. He spent most of that career at Cabrillo Credit Union in San Diego, where he was vice president and chief marketing officer. At Cabrillo, he helped increase membership, accounts, loan volume, and the credit card portfolio. "Credit unions are known for making members their number one priority, and SAFE prides itself on that,” Hayes said. “We strive to help our members make money, save money, and save time in everything that they do with us. Demonstrating to our members and potential members all the benefits of banking with SAFE will be a key to our further growth.” Hayes started his career as a newspaper reporter and editor in Utah, and then became a corporate communications specialist with SkyWest Airlines before launching his credit union career. He has a master's degree in business administration from the University of Phoenix and a degree in journalism from Utah State University.
