Letter: CMH still provides first-class service

Posted
Recently, my wife had surgery at Clarendon Memorial Hospital. Her gallbladder had been giving her trouble for more than a year, and the doctors said it had to come out. We could have gone anywhere to have this surgery performed, and we chose to have it done at CMH. The facility was beautiful and the equipment new and state-of-the-art, but that’s not the main reason we came to our hometown hospital. We came here because we knew she would receive great personalized service. Besides that, there would be no extended travel for a procedure that could be performed by a first-class professional crew, and the results would be as good as, or better than, any of the regional hospitals in our area. As it turned out, the experience was even better than our expectations. Dr. Barrineau visited with Nannette before the surgery and patiently answered all of the questions she asked as a result of her study on the Internet. He was friendly, candid, and there was no doubt that his experience and skills would carry her through this stressful time. He gave us his cell phone number and said that even though he was taking a family vacation the next week to please call him personally if we needed his advice during her recovery period. If need be, he would return to Manning from the beach if some event required his presence. The OR crew was fantastic. Some of them I knew from my employment at the hospital; others were new staff who had joined the team after I retired three years ago. All were professional, comforting and friendly. We knew we were in good hands. CMH has had its share of turmoil in the last few years, and now is under the leadership of McLeod Regional Medical Center. They have an excellent reputation, and I expect that McLeod Health Clarendon will continue to provide first-class comprehensive service for our citizens. I encourage you to use our local hospital. It is a wonderfu facility, staffed with a top-notch professional hometown team and great doctors. You won’t be disappointed. EDWARD R. FRYE Summerton EDWARD R. FRYE Summerton
